The club is run by a dedicated committee of students and ex-students who are all keen volleyballers. The Sydney University volleyball club also runs the Sydney University Volleyball Association. Through the association we run a local league at the H.K.Ward Gymnasium, as well as enter local, national, university and non university competitions. We also hold various social events, such as pub crawls and beach volleyball weekends.
The volleyball club has been active at the University of Sydney for at number of years now, in which time it has been involved with most aspects of volleyball in Australia. The club has also done particularly well in University competitions of late, with the men's team coming first in the country in 2000, as well as the men's and women's teams winning the NSW university games often over the last few years. over the 1999-2000 period the men's volleyball club and the women's volleyball club merged, and the club has over 100 members. The volleyball club has been given acess to the new Tempe indoor facility as of the end of 2003, which promises to be a great venue for club trainings and competitions. Over the last few years a number of club members have been given sporting awards, these include Blues from Sydney University and Green and Gold selection from Australian University Sport. 2001 scholarship recipient Amy Artlett was also selected for the Australian University Volleyball Team and took part in the World University Games, in Beijing China in August 2001.
