The Sydney Uni women’s honours volleyball side have brushed aside a committed UTS United to claim their third State Volleyball League gold medal in the last six years following an undefeated 2012 season.

Sydney Uni started very strongly and held their momentum throughout the match, finishing with a 3-0 victory.

The girls were dominant, winning point after point thanks to their strong hitting through the middle and the outside and a strong blocking presence at the net.

Outside hitter Dana Hutchinson and libero Stef Lalic were further rewarded for their brilliant seasons by earning selection in the NSW all-star merit team.

Earlier in the day the Sydney Uni women’s division 1 team were defeated in five tough sets – eventually going down 3-2 to a strong Baulkham Hills side.
